In recognition of the noble service and sacrifice Canadian and American Forces personnel have made in Afghanistan and around the world, the Manitoba Wildlife Federation (MWF) and Delta Waterfowl, in conjunction with presenting sponsor, Cabela’s Canada, are proud to introduce the first annual Faces of Freedom – Wounded Veterans’ Hunt.
The goal of the Faces of Freedom – Wounded Veterans’ Hunt is to express gratitude and respect for our soldiers and let them know they are not forgotten. Bringing Canadian and American veterans together to share in the joy of the outdoors provides an opportunity for friendship, healing and adjustment to civilian life.
Three Canadian Forces soldiers, wounded in action, will be joined by three American wounded soldiers, for a four-day waterfowl hunt in the great Manitoba outdoors. Leading the hunt is Manitoba Wildlife Federation Vice-President, Chris Heald, and decorated American veteran, Col. Mike Steele (Ret.).
The Faces of Freedom – Wounded Veterans’ Hunt itinerary includes four days of hunting, September 28 – October 1, 2011;a fundraising dinner in Portage la Prairie, September 28; and a guided tour of Winnipeg and pre-game salute to the veterans at the Winnipeg Blue Bombers home game Vs. Montreal, September 30.
Proceeds from the Faces of Freedom fundraising dinner go to MWF conservation programs and to Wounded Warriors Canada. For tickets to the dinner and more information, contact the Manitoba Wildlife Federation: 204.633.5967 or info@mwf.mb.ca
