In response to Rob Olson’s Outdoors column in the Winnipeg Free Press titled Future Premier: time to show us some love (Saturday, Mar.19 Outdoors Column, read it right here), Brian Pallister took a break from campaigning to join the Managing Director, President Brian Strauman and MWF super-volunteer Chris Heald in Gimli for a little ice fishing demonstration and a bowl of fresh Lake Winnipeg walleye chowder. Rob’s column offered the MWF’s services to train our political leaders in the ways of our wonderful outdoor traditions.
Conversations on the ice with Mr. Pallister ranged from the need to curb spotlighting to the future of our Lake Winnipeg fishery. A big thanks to Brian for taking the time to meet with us in our favorite meeting place: Lake Winnipeg. A fun time was had by all. We stand ready, willing and able to provide the same opportunity to Ms. Bokhari and Mr. Selinger, but they better hurry, ice fishing closes March 31st.
