On September 18, 2019 Manitoba Premier Brian Pallister released his 100 day action plan and there are two points in particular that resonate deeply with the MWF as they are both issues the MWF has been advocating for, for a long time.
Point number 98 under Sustainable Development has Premier Pallister committing to, “Increase enforcement and prosecution under The Wildlife Act against individuals who endanger public safety and wildlife populations by illegally night hunting”. This is an issue that the MWF has been fighting for since the NDP party was in power.
Under point number 100 Premier Pallister has promised to “Move forward with the principles of Shared Management to ensure sustainable wildlife and fish populations“. The MWF has been at the forefront of pushing for shared management here in the Province.
The MWF has drafted a letter to the Honourable Minister Squires, congratulating her and the PC Party on their victory and has committed to working closely with the Province of Manitoba and Sustainable Development to find viable solutions to wildlife and conservation issues that are so important to our members, and Manitobans in general.
