Provincial Hunting Day was first proclaimed in 2009 by the Manitoba government establishing the fourth Saturday in September each year as Provincial Hunting Day. The goal is “to celebrate the role hunting plays in wildlife management and conservation,” according to the official proclamation.
The event is sponsored by the Manitoba Wildlife Federation (MWF), together with a variety of partner organizations and will take place rain or shine. This family-friendly event promotes the rich tradition of hunting that has become part of Manitoba’s heritage.
The Provincial Hunting Day celebration will feature a variety of fun and exciting family activities, including:
• Free shotgun training and shooting
• Hunting demos
• Game cleaning and cooking demos
• Youth ‘Calling Contest’ and Women’s Goose Calling Contest
• Shooting ranges
• Hunting seminars & exhibitors
• Kids crafts and activities
• Prize draws
• Live music
• Hunter Education Online Course examinations
Everyone is welcome, especially those with no experience in hunting who wish to learn more.
Provincial Hunting Day 2017
Hunting has a long and rich tradition in Manitoba and should be celebrated, promoted and valued. The 9th annual Provincial Hunting Day Celebration is an event dedicated to showcasing one of Manitoba’s most time-honoured pursuits.
Provincial Hunting Day 2017 takes place Saturday, September 23 2017 from 11:00AM – 3:00PM at the Brandon Gun Club – just 1/2 mile South of the Junction of Hwy 10 and Hwy 110 South of Brandon.
The event is sponsored by the Manitoba Wildlife Federation (MWF), together with the Brandon Gun Club, Brandon Wildlife Association and a variety of partner organizations and will take place rain or shine. This family-friendly event features an array of fun and exciting family activities including:

About the Brandon Gun Club:
The Brandon Gun Club has been in its present location since the early 1960’s. It saw it’s first expansion from 5 trap houses to 9 trap houses in the early 1980’s. In 1984 the club hosted the Canadian Trapshooting Championships which caused them to expand their facility again to 18 trap houses. Since then the Club has expanded to include a skeet layout and 5-stand sporting clays, allowing the Brandon Gun Club to facilitate all shotgun sports.
About the Brandon Wildlife Association:
For over 40 years the Brandon Wildlife Association has held club level matches, provincial matches and national matches in all shooting venues: IPSC, Three Gun, Junior Rifle, Etc. The Brandon Wildlife Association is one of Manitoba’s largest clubs, boasting over 1000 memberships. Brandon Wildlife Association is one of the best places to shoot while supporting Junior Rifle and Junior Shotgun programs.
There will be live music featuring a special acoustic performance by Canadian Country Music Star Jason Kirkness.
