Provincial Hunting Day was first proclaimed in 2009 by the Manitoba government establishing the fourth Saturday in September each year as Provincial Hunting Day. The goal is “to celebrate the role hunting plays in wildlife management and conservation,” according to the official proclamation.
Hunting has a long and rich tradition in Manitoba and should be celebrated, promoted and valued. The 10th annual Provincial Hunting Day Celebration is an event dedicated to showcasing one of Manitoba’s most time-honoured pursuits.
This year, the MWF plans to be a part of mentored hunts on Provincial Hunting Day and so has created a new event titled Prepare for Provincial Hunting Day:
The event is sponsored by the Manitoba Wildlife Federation (MWF) Brokenhead River Game and Fish and a variety of partner organizations and will take place rain or shine. This family-friendly event features an array of fun and exciting family activities including:
Free Shotgun Training and Shooting (Free Shooting offered to the first 100 people to sign up)
Game Cleaning & Cooking Demos
Hunter Education and PAL course information

And Much Much More!
