About

Established in 1944, Manitoba Wildlife Federation is the province’s oldest and largest conservation organization, comprised of 14,000+ anglers, hunters and outdoor enthusiasts in over 100 affiliate groups.

    • Mission Statement:  Manitoba Wildlife Federation is dedicated to the conservation and sustainable use of fish, wildlife and habitat resources in Manitoba.
    • Strategic Priorities:  Increase MWF’s membership; identify new sources of revenue and enhance current fundraising efforts; enhance MWF’s public profile; improve MWF’s governance and organizational effectiveness.

For nearly 70 years, MWF has played an active role in conservation and supported sound management of our natural resources.  Today’s abundance of fish and wildlife populations did not happen by chance.  They are the result of ideas and actions taken in the late 19th and early 20th centuries by leading conservationists, many of them hunters and anglers in their own right.

At a time when there were no game laws, no seasons, no limits, no public agencies or conservation organizations, no funding mechanisms, university programs, enforcement officers or fish and wildlife science, it was anglers and hunters who helped to create the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation.  MWF continues to protect and enhance the privileges of Manitoba’s anglers and hunters and to pass on those traditions in good health to future generations.

From securing critical wildlife habitat and enhancing streams and waterways to providing hunter safety and outdoor skills training, Manitoba Wildlife Federation is working for the wise use of our natural resources.
