On March 7th, the MWF expressed sincere disappointment as the Federal Government, alongside anti-firearm groups, presented the Canadian public with an additional list of 179 newly prohibited firearms. This announcement continues the federal government’s ongoing attack on responsible firearm owners. The government claims the only firearms on this list are “weapons of war, designed to kill as many people as possible in the least amount of time.” However, this is simply not true and contributes to a false narrative suggesting that these measures will address firearm crime across the country.

The MWF is continuing to collaborate with our partners on the National Fishing and Hunting Collaborative to make this a key issue in the upcoming federal election. We have completed our federal election questionnaires and policy statements, and we will be presenting them to all parties and candidates in the lead-up to the election. Stay tuned.
