Over the last 6 months, MWF has been confronted with an array of threats to all users of land and resources in this province. From the federal government’s 30-by-30, UN-led protection vision and its programs like Indigenous Protected and Conserved Areas (IPCAs), and Ecological Corridors – the challenges and issues have been unrelenting.
In response to these threats, MWF launched Access for All, which is an unprecedented effort and risk for the MWF that brought us into the court rooms, into the media, and delivering Town Hall Meetings across Manitoba. The campaign is experiencing a groundswell of grassroots support and has created clear signs of affecting government decision makers at the municipal, provincial, and federal levels.
Alongside MWF’s ongoing campaign efforts, our loyal clubs remain the backbone of the organization. The Federation’s 100 clubs span the entire province, providing MWF with a unique voice and unmatched strength in representing conservation, hunters, and anglers. We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to the clubs that have stepped up and supported us during these challenging times. The additional financial assistance from participating clubs has been invaluable. Equally important, our clubs have connected us with key leaders, mobilized communities, and brought critical insights to light.
Since the launch of Access for All in the fall of 2024, MWF clubs have contributed $37,635 towards the campaign costs that paid for our court proceedings, town hall meetings, cultivate government relations on a municipal, provincial, and national level, and enabled MWF to enhance communications on all platforms. In 2025 we anticipate the need to ramp up our campaign with increased legal fees, and advocacy work in Manitoba and in Ottawa anticipating an incoming new government.

We encourage our clubs and members to join us on April 26th at our annual AGM in Winnipeg for a fulsome update and discussion about our 2025 campaign. There will be time for questions, discussion, and respectful conversation. During the meeting, we will acknowledge the outstanding clubs that have supported this campaign financially and encourage new clubs to follow their lead. Every contribution helps support our efforts, strengthens our coalition, and enables us to keep pushing forward.
