Advancing Women in Conservation Summit

Women in Conservation Summit

Women, of all ages, congregated in Vancouver on April 3-6th to attend the 3rdAnnual Advancing Women in Conservation (AWIC) Summit. MWF Managing Director, Carly Deacon, has been honoured to participate in the development of this program and assist with the steering committee since its inception.

AWIC is truly a unique program. The summit provides a vital space for individuals across Canada to gather, explore conservation pathways, develop leadership skills, and build a more inclusive and supportive conservation community. The AWIC summit pulls together a wide range of women from different ethnicities, experiences, career stages, and geographical areas, and provides a safe place for networking and skill building amongst like-minded women.

Throughout the weekend in Vancouver, women leaders in conservation mapped out their pathways in academics, science, education, management, enforcement, and shared their passions for the outdoors as hunters, anglers, and wild game culinary chefs. They provided guidance, mentorship, and support to those pursuing a future in this field.

On behalf of MWF, we would like to send a sincere thank you to all the AWIC speakers who provided inspiration to our future stewards, and thank you to the attendees, for joining us in these valuable discussions.
