Hunting and Fishing — Powerful Economic Drivers That are Worth Protecting

Access for All

Hunting and fishing aren’t just traditions in Manitoba — they’re powerful economic drivers that support communities across the province, especially in the North. This video explores the significant financial impact these activities have on our local economy, from outfitting lodges and guide services to local businesses and infrastructure.

Visitors from across Canada and beyond spend millions annually, supporting northern hunting and fishing lodges, and contributing directly to the vitality of rural and Indigenous communities.

But this way of life is facing a serious challenge. With newly proposed, federally driven 30 by 30 initiatives (protection of 30% of land and water by 2030), including Indigenous Conservation Protected Areas (ICPAs), there is growing concern about potential loss of access to public lands — lands that sustain outdoor traditions and drive regional economies.

Join us as we shine a light on why protecting access and promoting sustainable use of our natural resources matters — for all Manitobans, our communities, and our future.
