Following the Court of King’s Bench proceedings yesterday, the Government of Manitoba announced that provincial Conservation Officers will be present at the Bloodvein Drug and Alcohol Check Stop for the duration of December 1st through 14th season. The MWF welcomes this practical solution, which supports Bloodvein’s measures to prevent drugs and alcohol from entering their community, while also providing assurance that licensed hunters will be allowed to pass through to hunt within the open areas of Game Hunting Areas 17, 17A, and 17B. Additional Officers will also be on-site to educate licensed hunters on the new exclusion zones and enforce compliance.
We thank the Premier and the Minister for their leadership and prompt attention in reaching this balanced and collaborative solution.

On behalf of the MWF, we wish all hunters a safe and memorable experience. Please take note of the unprecedented weather conditions this fall, and plan and prepare for all possibilities—from thin ice to open water.
