MWF is extremely pleased to see the Manitoba government refuse to support the Federal gun buyback program. This decision reflects a nearly unanimous national consensus that the program is costly, ineffective, and unfairly targets legally licensed and vetted firearms owners, while doing nothing to address criminal activity. MWF is pleased that its long-standing opposition and advocacy efforts on this issue have helped bring about this outcome. Manitoba is right to step back from a policy that wastes public dollars and fails to improve public safety.
