$3.8 Billion in Funding Announced for the Nature Fund

Nature Fund

The federal government has announced $3.8 billion for the Nature Fund directed at nature protection, and supporting Canada’s goal of conserving 30% of lands and waters by 2030. The investment will help establish new national parks, marine conservation areas, and initiatives like the Seal River Watershed National Park in Manitoba, while also supporting Indigenous-led conservation.

The Manitoba Wildlife Federation is encouraged to see the federal government prioritize conservation through the Nature Fund. We support protected areas (ex: Wildlife Management Areas) and will continue to advocate for protected areas that balance environmental protection with sustainable use, where resources in these areas are carefully managed, a shared responsibility, and continue to provide social, cultural, and economic benefits for all Manitobans.

MWF looks forward to reviewing the plans as they develop. We also look forward to collaborating with the Seal River Alliance as a contributing partner and is pleased to see their endorsement on Facebook for an Access-For-All model.
