Lake Winnipeg Walleye – Their Importance, Their Plight

If you’re out ice fishing on the Red River or Lake Winnipeg in March, you might get a visit from some researchers asking you to do a short survey about your fishing habits. These researchers – Michelle and Mary Agnes from Probe Research Inc. – are working on a project for the Manitoba Wildlife Federation and other conservation and travel groups who are concerned about the future of the walleye fishery. Michelle and Mary Agnes will be stopping by a random selection of shacks and tents over the first and second weekends in March. Participation is completely voluntary, but respondents could win one of three gift cards. And, you’ll be helping us better understand the impact and value of the walleye fishery in Manitoba.
