E-Licensing for Fishing and Hunting

The Province of Manitoba has recently announced E-Licensing for Hunting and Fishing as well as Park Passes.

The MWF has been advocating for e-licensing for years and is pleased to see the Province has launched their E-Licensing program.

We encourage everyone to try the system out by setting up your personal accounts. You can also order tags now, so you have them in hand and ready for when you need to purchase your hunting licenses.

As with any new system, there is bound to be hiccups in the launch process, and that is no different in this case. The MWF has reached out to the Province to answer questions that our members have been sending us and these are their responses:

Printing Licenses: “Fishing licenses must be printed out and signed, hunting licenses can be downloaded and kept on mobile platforms. If party hunting, licenses must be printed out and party members added.”

Please note that you must still order tags for big game species (Black Bear, Whitetail Deer, etc.) and Turkey. These tags are free of charge, but you still must tag your harvested animal. Tags that you order come in packs of 5 and are valid for 5 years.

How does the TAGS system work? “Tags should be ordered ahead of time and then can be used to link with your license at the time of purchase. If you don’t have tags and purchase a license online the license and tag will be sent to you.”

List of retailers who will sell licenses: “Yes, you can search for retailers who will be selling licenses right here.”

When will the Big Game Draw go online? “The Big Game Draw system will be online soon, please check back.”

Why can I not purchase an angling license and hunting license at the same time? “This is due to the difference in residency definitions.” From the E-Licensing website: “For those customers wishing to purchase an angling and hunting licence during the same session, you will be required to complete two separate transactions. This is due to different residency requirements for anglers and hunters. To do so, please purchase your first licence (e.g. angling), then sign out of the system, and sign back in to purchase your next licence (e.g. hunting). This only applies to this combination of purchases.”

What is the $4.50 admin fee for? “Fees go towards administration and support of the online system.”

Please note that $4.50 is a small price to pay for the convenience of being able to purchase your license at any time from the comfort of your home.

The Province has included a full FAQ on their website which can be viewed right here.
