On March 19th from 10:00am – 4:00pm the Manitoba Wildlife Federation will be partnering with Cabela’s Canada and Fort Whyte Alive to host our first annual Ice Fishing Festival! Cabela’s Canada will be covering the admission fees of everyone who visits Fort Whyte Alive during the event.
Have no gear, never been ice fishing? No problem!!! Pre-drilled holes and ice fishing rods, reels and bait will be available on a temporary loan basis while fishing on site. Volunteer angling experts will be on hand to share their tips and tactics with you to ensure your first experience is an enjoyable one. No fishing license required as this is private property and a stocked pond. At the top of every hour there will be in-person seminars with angling experts from across Manitoba in the Richardson Interpretive Centre. In addition to the angling fun, Fort Whyte Alive will also have all their regular activities available for everyone to enjoy including snowshoeing, sledding, hiking, wildlife watching, cross country skiing, & skating. The Buffalo Stone Café at Fort Whyte Alive will also be operating with a full menu.
