Are you a youth or do you know a youth between the ages of 12 – 17 years old with an interest in duck and goose hunting? The Dauphin Fish and Wildlife Association would like to invite you to a mentored waterfowl hunt Sept 2nd & 3rd in Dauphin, Manitoba.
This two day event will provide the new hunters with all the skills needed to become a safe and successful waterfowl hunter! The first day the event will focus on hunting safety, ethics and laws surrounding hunting, duck & goose calling, how to set decoys, waterfowl ID, setting up blinds as well as scouting for hunting spots. Firearms, ammunition, and food will be provided!
**** Please note, accommodations are not included, there are motels and camping located close by****
The following day, each youth will be grouped with other youth hunters and at least two mentors, and they will go out for a morning duck or goose hunt. The focus of this hunt is on safety, being an ethical hunter, and FUN!!! The goal is for every new hunter to harvest at least one bird. After the hunt is finished, the youth hunters will be shown how to clean their birds if they were lucky enough to harvest any, as well as provide some wild game recipes for them to try at home. Further details of the hunt will be provided by Hunt Captain, Tia Crawford.
